BelCanto Kennel is a small kennel located in Bourget, Ontario, (Eastern Ontario) approximately 40 minutes East of Ottawa in the country where the dogs have plenty of room to run and play. The kennel is located on what used to be Denis’ great-grand-parents 100 acre farm!! It’s a dream come true. Beautiful new, custom built 40’X80′ facilities (heated and AC, boarding/grooming area/training space and separate whelping room for the new mothers) with plenty of space to run and play……and work 🙂

At BelCanto we have been breeding goldens for more than 30 years.  Denis purchased his first golden from Michel & Rachelle Bertrand from Sirius Kennel. This was the start of a wonderful and passionate adventure. Even if the preference is for the European type golden retrievers, our dogs are a blend of European, Canadian and American lines. Our objective is to breed healthy, well tempered and true representatives of this wonderful breed that performs well in conformation, obedience, agility and as true loyal family companions. The lines incorporated in our breeding program are carefully selected with that objective in mind. All the breeding stock is certified – clear hips, elbows, heart, DNA and annual eye exam. All puppies are born and raised in a loving and caring environment with lots of attention and interaction.

Within the last few years we have once again incorporated Welsh Springer Spaniels in our kennel family.  This is a wonderful, energetic, highly intelligent and easy to train dog.  They are loyal family companions that are very much like a big dog in a small dog body.  Many thanks to our mentor / friend Karin Haggard from Sweden for assisting us in obtaining great welshies. This is a rare breed in Canada which certainly deserves to be better known.
